January 30, 2008

This past weekend, the officers of the Auxiliary attended the Mid-Winter Conference for the Department of New York. Over 500 members from around the state were in attendance. Our National President, Jan Pulvermacher-Ryan was a special guest.
We met many inspiring women with fresh ideas to promote the many programs of the Auxiliary.
We will be sharing these ideas with our members and try to implement them. Our Department of New York President, Carol Johnson, has set a goal to provide funds for a Snoezelen Room for each of the five New York State Veterans' Homes. This therapy room is designed to calm, relax or stimulate a person with brain injury, dementia, behavioral and mood disturbances caused by physical conditions. The goal is to serve veterans with fewer drug solutions.

JANUARY 25

Keep CPL John Sigsbee in your prayers today.

Final fish fry of the month tonight.

Off to Winter Conference with the ladies for the weekend.

Wednesday, January 23, 2008

I have just finished reading the Post Standard article about protesters at John Sigsbee's funeral. What are these people thinking??!! They apparently do not see that this young soldier gave his life to protect their freedom and rights. Including their right to protest. As the mother of a soldier, I can think of no greater insult to the Sigsbee family. I hope that every available member of the post and the community can join the Patriot Guard and block the family's view of this group. On a syracuse.com.blog, CAPTAINPGR states they will shield the family with flags. It would be quite a sight to see the school driveway lined with people and American flags. It would be even sweeter to see no news coverage of the protesters. Let us hope for a peaceful display of respect.

Blue Star Banner

Show your pride in your family member serving our country. If your child, parent, sibling, grandchild grandparent or spouse is on active duty, contact the Legion. We will give you a Blue Star Banner to hang in your window to show everyone you have a family member serving our country.

Support our Troops

The Ladies Auxiliary adopted the troop of one of our Legion members, Spc. James Dawes, serving in Iraq. Through fundraisers and donations, we were able to make several mailings during their 15 month deployment. While home on leave, Jim showed their appreciation for our support by presenting the Legion with a flag that flew over their base. The flag is on display at the Post. He was also able to attend our Veteran's Day Dinner after his deployment.

We are seeking the names and addresses of local servicemen and women so we may continue this show of support. Please mail the address to: Ladies Auxiliary, CJ Fulmer American Legion,

National Security, PO Box 12, Waterville, NY 13480 or drop it off at the Post home on Route 20.We also gladly accept donations of goods or money to assist in the cost of mailings. Join us in showing our troops that we care.
Join us on January 25, 2008 for the final fish fry of the month 4:30 PM till 7 or sold out. $9.00 each $5.00 for macaroni and cheese dinner.
The next fish fry will be on Good Friday. Mark your calendar now.

The Riders have poker runs and a hog roast at the end of the season. The Sons have the St. Patrick's Day dinner. Every Tuesday night through the summer we have cans and clams. We also cater weddings, reunions, graduation parties, birthdays and corporate meetings. Our Veteran's Day Dinner is well attended. We do fundraising benefits and breakfasts. December brings out our families to visit Santa at the kid's Christmas Party. We also have teams for bowling and shuffleboard. Several local organizations use our facility for their meetings.
